Hi
I know we’ve been waiting a long time to hear this, so without a lot of fanfare, here goes.
The Exeter East & West WILL FINALLY BE GETTING PAVED.
The contracts have been signed and dates were picked for the job to start. As you all already know this is a very large undertaking both in cost and scheduling.
The job including the contractor for milling & paving, lawyer, engineer inspector, permits and other cost will exceed $170,000.00.
THERE WILL BE NO ASSESSMENT for this work. It’s all covered under our budget from our road paving reserve.
The reason for telling you all this:
This job is very costly so we need EVERYONE’S COOPERATION to get it done without adding any additional cost to this project. The last thing we need is for the road to get ruined because we didn’t follow the correct procedures for curing the surface and having to add cost to the project to make unnecessary repairs.
Below is the plan, but it might change due to weather:
WEST SIDE
- We plan to mill the road (1”) starting Monday July 12 and complete that portion of the job not later than Wednesday July 14).
- Start paving either Wednesday July 14 or Thursday July 15 and complete it no later than Friday July 16.
EAST SIDE (which is larger than the WEST)
- We plan to mill the road (1”) starting Wednesday July 14 and complete that portion of the job Friday July 16.
- Start paving Monday July 19 and complete it no later than Wednesday July 21.
Painting of lines and adding road markers & car stops will follow after all paving is completed in both sections.
HERE’S WHERE WE NEED ALL YOUR HELP AND COOPERATION:
- Driving on the milled road WILL be allowed. Your driveways may only be blocked for a few minutes while the trucks mill down the road. Once the trucks have passed your driveway, you can drive on the milled portion.
- Driving on the NEWLY ASPHALTED road will NOT be allowed. The asphalt needs time to cure and harden so we don’t want car’s going on it for at least 1 NIGHT after being put down.
- PLEASE don’t plan on ordering things from places like Amazon, CVS, and Publix’s. We don’t want nor will we allow trucks coming in.
- If you have a doctor appointment, please try to reschedule them so you don’t need to drive on the roadway for these few dates.
- Please don’t plan on having friends or relatives come visiting you on these dates. We don’t need extra traffic on our roads while they are trying to repave.
- On Friday, there will be NO bulk pick up. (Regular trash will continue to be picked up as scheduled Tuesday and Friday)
- Mail service will continue as usual with minor delays.
- The sprinklers will be turned off as well as lawn cutting / fertilization will also be stopped these days while the road work is being done.
- The pool will be open but the pool service company will not be coming until the roadway is completed.
- NO CARS can be parked in GUEST spots until the road work is completed. Any car’s left in a guest location WILL be towed away at the owners cost. You can leave your car in your driveway.
- LARGE trucks like City Furniture or MOVING TRUCKS (in or out), also delivery trucks will NOT be allowed access to Exeter until the job is completed.
Again, this can only be accomplished with everyone’s FULL cooperation. I know it may seem hard, but it’s only a few days of inconvenience. Once it’s done and done right, it should last 20 years. If we have to make costly repairs to the road because we failed to follow simple rules, we’ll have to have an assessment to re-do the work. So, PLEASE let’s all get together and get this done without having any problems.
Thank you for your cooperation.
